Should be closed down privatized, sold or whatever.
In the meantime 5 of the 6 units at Kendall coal fired power station went down over night, at one go.

MK sabotage ?
The ones behind the July 2021 riots and looting.
Eskom generation must be put to rest, euthanasied once and for all.
Seriti Resources, one of SA’s largest coal mines, a black owned company, is building SA’s largest wind farm to supply the mine with electricity.
Thebe Investments, for about 60% owned by Chancellors House, the investment arm of the ANC, has a 24% share in Seriti.

SQL Oracle etc, have been with us for 30 plus years as well and they have been updated and patched many times, but SAP is still stuck in the dark ages when it comes to software. No wonder Spar is suffering!
SAP is truely the worst software I’ve had the mispleasure to deal with in my 34 years in IT

Besides, there are many influential people (politicians),whose personal interest lies in supporting the presently used inefficient systems.

I agree. Nowadays politicians get into everything, ignoring technical and biological realities. Politicians are only motivated by money, but stupid decisions will have to be fixed by even more money. Setting a wholly arbitrary decision for terminating gasoline-powered cars but wholly neglecting the associated problems and ignoring the real problems of electric cars is of the same caliber, as recommending the eating of worms and crickets to “save the planet” from carbon emissions. Also ignoring that using electric energy to charge electric cars requires huge electric plants, yet future energy supply planners predict many smaller local power plants rather than a few giants. Hydrogen-based cars would make a lot more sense, but sense is not “sexy enough” for some reason.

The real revolutionary and really effective car drive system is hydrogen-based, so why is it not pursued?

Comment on Nigeria currency crisis fuelling a corporate exodus by Tad Tired https://techcentral.co.za/nigeria-currency-crisis-corporate-exodus/239815/#comment-166740 Tue, 20 Feb 2024 00:55:20 +0000 https://techcentral.co.za/?p=239815#comment-166740 It’s not just Nigeria and dollar shortages, that are creating the exodus. Most African nations have shut their doors to foreign companies, with policies that make it very unattractive to invest. There is an African “nationalism” around, where they believe, and are told by woke organisations like the “Blair institute”, the UN, and left wing western politicians, that Africa can do everything on it’s own, and unfortunately, it is not going to end well.

The amount of renewable electricity required to produce the green hydrogen could be put to far better use. Same applies to E-fuels.

Hydrogen can use similar road networks like petrol or diesel to distribute or generating at the station… Transportation in liquid ammonia has been touted as a solution also… New research from south africa has shown feasibility of membrane less electrolysis…. While in California in 2020… The Toyota Mirai were driving around showing there can be BEVs and other tech rolling side by side…. Hydrogen is the only viable alternative for trucks as batteries just don’t make sense at that scale
